On Thursday, French journalist Ignazio Genuardi reported Everton are interested in Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitiké.
Later that day, RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins explained that Luis Enrique has asked the striker to leave the club this summer. The Toffees are joined by Borussia Dortmund and a few other clubs in the chase to sign the 21-year-old.
Sport1 chief reporter Patrick Berger took to Twitter to explain that Everton are ‘really pushing’ to take the striker who has been left out of the Ligue 1 side’s plans.
He adds the Merseyside club have been in ‘advanced talks’ to sign the player on a loan deal with a ‘buy clause’. Berger doesn’t make it clear if it would be an option or obligation to buy.
Ekitiké obviously wasn’t the first-choice striker at PSG last season and was restricted to close to 1400 minutes of action from 32 games. He managed four goals and four assists in the process.
PSG not planning with Hugo Ekitiké (21/🇫🇷). Been told Everton really pushing to sign the young attacker. Advanced talks for loan deal with buy clause. @FabrizioRomano reports on possible €35m package. Player also on BVB shortlist but he actually don’t want to be a backup. #EFC
