While Mauricio Pochettino might have managed to steer Chelsea to three wins in their last four games in all competitions, his job at Stamford Bridge isn’t the most secure.
The Blues are still 11th in the Premier League, albeit with a game in hand on Newcastle and Wolves, but their season has certainly not gone the way they were hoping for.
That’s why there’s been talk of the Argentine being dismissed in the future, with a few names being linked with the Chelsea job, and the latest to be thrown into the ring as a potential candidate by journalist Massimo Ugolini on Canale 8, relayed by Bianconera News, is a familiar face.
No, it’s not José Mourinho, who has already held the post twice, but Antonio Conte, who led the Blues to their last Premier League back in 2017.
The Italian has been without a job since leaving Tottenham, and while there has been a lot of talk of him taking over from Max Allegri at Juventus, Ugolini reckons the Chelsea dugout could be his next step.
He said: “He could even return to Chelsea. He would be welcomed back with great enthusiasm. Watch out for Juventus too. In this spending-review phase, it’s not as if they couldn’t afford him.”
