On February 9th, Sport reported Barcelona sporting director Deco has initiated contact to try and get a transfer started for Everton’s Amadou Onana.
A week later, Mundo Deportivo stated the midfielder is the main target for the La Liga side in the summer as he’s the one who seduces them the most.
Journalist Matteo Moretto, relayed by Fichajes, provides the latest on the Everton star.
Deco has already started planning for the next window, and for the midfield the Spanish giants are following the Belgium international with a ‘magnifying glass’.
Barca ‘insist’ on the 22-year-old, and the journalist states they are ‘even more interested’ to know his contractual situation at the Merseyside club.
Onana’s deal lasts until 2027 and it’s claimed Sean Dyche’s side valued him at around €40m. The Spanish giants, for their part, intend to lower the cost of the operation in the summer.
That seems optimistic from Barcelona. Firstly, it’s likely Everton want ore than €40m, and secondly, it’s even likelier they wouldn’t offer discount from that level.
The former Lille man has been one of the key players for Everton this season, and has three goals and an assist from 27 games so far.
