It’s not been a good weekend for Emmanuel Adebayor.
Seemingly on his way to Lyon, the player found out on Sunday morning from his Togo national team manager that he wouldn’t be signing for the Ligue 1 club.
Learning the news from an article in L’Equipe, the Togo head coach contacted his striker to tell him the news, which led Adebayor to rant to the French newspaper about the whole situation, which we covered here.
Still without a club, the former Arsenal striker now has to find another club who would be willing to pay him for his goalscoring services, and it appears it won’t be Leganes in Spain either.
Already a dubious story from TodoMercadoWeb last week, the Spanish website come back with another update on the ex-Tottenham forward, and say that the intermediaries who were working for his arrival were never able to reach an agreement.
It’s all quite convenient, in our opinion, that this comes just after the Lyon news, as they now don’t have the excuse of “Oh, he signed for a better team so Leganes were just unlucky.”
TodoMercadoWeb also say the player is of interest to clubs in Italy, so we guess that’s where the rumours will send him next.
