Erik ten Hag has been warned not to sign any more players from the Eredivisie for the time being, or he faces a revolt at Manchester United.

That’s according to journalist Geert Langendorff, who says the Dutchman’s support at Old Trafford is dwindling following what he believes is a disappointing start to the season.

Ten Hag arrived at Manchester United from Ajax last summer to head up their rebuild following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign and the disappointing interim period under Ralf Rangnick.

He has been slowly reshaping the club since his arrival, overseeing a partial rebuild of the playing squad in particular with a number of high profile exits and arrivals.

His first year in charge proved to be a positive one as Manchester United finished in the top four and won the EFL Cup.

This season has started in slow fashion, though, with Manchester currently 12th in the table after losing two of their first four league games and winning the other two.

Those victories were not convincing, though, with a less than impressive win over Wolves on the opening day and a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest after they had found themselves 2-0 down.

Questions are being asked about Ten Hag, as is always the case with Manchester United managers, particularly amid a falling out with Jadon Sancho that has gone public and become extremely bitter.

It’s seen the pressure on him rise somewhat, and Langendorff states that Ten Hag needs to be careful moving forwards.

“He had a lot of support in the first year, but this season after the poor start, the attention is focused on Ten Hag. What did he actually do?” he said on the AD Football Podcast.

“Ten Hag should not sign a player from the Eredivisie for the time being, because then the fans will revolt.

“Manchester United must always play in the Champions League. As soon as that doesn’t work or it is in danger, you have to be careful as a manager. Although Ten Hag has already been through a lot.”
