On Wednesday, Cadena Ser reported Real Madrid will face competition from Chelsea in the race to sign AFC Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen.

Thursday’s edition of Sport backs it up and their title says, ‘Chelsea meddle in Huijsen’s signing’.

The 19-year-old joined Bournemouth from Juventus last summer and Cherries manager Andoni Iraola managed to get the best out of him.

His performances for Bournemouth have helped him make debut for Spain last week. The report claims the Premier League club assume the centre-back won’t stay with them for long despite having a contract until 2030.

Bournemouth managing director Tiago Pinto aims to sell him to the highest bidder as they have already received calls from Chelsea, Real Madrid and other clubs.

Huijsen reportedly has a €50m release clause. Sport haven’t taken this into account, and his suitors can activate the clause instead of getting into a bidding war on transfer fee.

Real Madrid director José Ángel Sánchez is working behind the scenes to get close to his camp. They believe the defender wants to join them, which is why he picked Spain over the Netherlands.

Los Blancos face competition from Chelsea, who are one of the ‘most interested’ clubs. Enzo Maresca seems to be leading the west London club’s transfer pursuit.

During Maresca’s playing career, had a spell at Málaga CF. The Bournemouth player was at the Spanish club’s academy between 2015 and 2021.

Sport state the Blues manager is ‘well acquainted’ with Huijsen’s youth team coaches and scouts. The newspaper further adds the Italian has also been in direct contact with the defender’s entourage for years.
