Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is of the belief the time has come for him to leave England this summer.
That’s according to today’s Mundo Deportivo, which states the 27-year-old is ‘enormously seduced’ by the possibility of joining Atlético Madrid.
It’s claimed the Tottenham midfielder has made this known to his agent and the La Liga side. He has also informed the north London club and is hoping for them lower their price.
His desire to join Diego Simeone’s side could be used by the Madrid club when negotiating a deal with Spurs.
The report states the Premier League side will not ‘give away’ the Denmark international, but his price would be lower than the reported fee of €70m needed to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti.
Over at TuttoMercatoWeb, they state the former Southampton man ‘approaches’ the La Liga side.
It’s claimed Los Rojiblancos have an agreement in principle with the player and ‘continue to work’ to agree a deal with Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Atlético have received encouragement as TMW state Spurs have opened the door to sell him in the ‘last few hours’.
With Spurs ‘open to the sale’, it’s down to the two clubs to find an agreement for Højbjerg.
