It appears that a new name has entered the Celtic managerial search following the departure of Ange Postecoglou to Tottenham.
His name is Francesco Farioli, who is currently without a club, and it seemed for a while that he was heading to Sunderland AFC following his spell at Alanyaspor, but nothing came of it.
The Italian was also linked with Watford, but they decided to go for Valérien Ismaël instead, meaning the 34-year-old remains a free agent and could now head to Celtic, according to Il Secolo XIX.
The Italian outlet look at some of the moves some managers could make amid Sampdoria needing someone to replace Dejan Stankovic, which is when Farioli is mentioned.
Right at the end of the article, they mention that in addition to Gennaro Gattuso, the ‘up-and-coming’ manager is ‘in the sights’ of various clubs, including the likes of Celtic.
Now, whether that’s a move the Parkhead residents will make remains to be seen, but it would certainly fall in line with the previous appointment of Postecoglou, meaning a relatively unknown name to the masses with the hope that new and fresh ideas can bring success to the club.
It would be a gamble from Celtic, but perhaps one worth taking.
