Arsenal have been credited with interest in Lyon star Lucas Paquetá this summer.
On July 12th, UOL in Brazil explained the Gunners are the main candidate to sign the midfielder. It was also reported the north London club are trying to lower his €60m price tag.
Two days later, reports coming out of France indicated Arsenal are firm in the chase for the 24-year-old, who is tempted by a new challenge next season.
With several reports in Brazil and France discussing the interest of Mikel Arteta’s side in the Brazil international, Arsenal’s technical director Edu was presented an opportunity to put forward his club’s stance on the signing.
Although the Premier League side’s chief heaped praise on Paquetá, a move in the current window has been ruled out. Edu made these claims during an interview with TNT Sports Brasil.
“I like Paqueta a lot, I’ve been a big fan for a long time. But as of today, the reality is that there isn’t even a conversation to sign him. There is nothing because we have a lot of players in this position, that’s all… I can’t say more,” Edu said, as quoted by Le10 Sport.
Edu’s comments should put an end to the reports linking Paquetá to Arsenal for the rest of the summer window.
