Three days ago, Goal stated Arsenal have become the latest club to join the race for Vitor Roque, and Edu Gaspar has initiated contact with the Athletico Paranaense star’s entourage to know about his situation.
Barcelona are also in the picture to sign the forward who has managed six goals and an assist for Brazil at the U20 South American Championship.
Sport have a report on the 17-year-old, titled: ‘Arsenal bid for Vitor Roque’. Within the report, it’s stated the Gunners are the ‘strong competitor’ of the La Liga side to sign the teenager.
Mikel Arteta’s side are the ‘most committed’ club to secure his services. It’s further said Edu Gaspar has contacted Roque’s agent to show Arsenal’s willingness to sign his client.
Arsenal are the first club in England to make a move for Roque and more Premier League sides are likely to soon knock on the door of both the player and his employer.
Roque will turn 18 years-of-age this month and will be eligible to make a switch to England in the summer.
Meanwhile, Barcelona remain optimistic to carry out the operation for the Brazilian.
Their external advisor, Deco, has already contacted Athletico Paranaense new coordinator, Luiz Felipe Scolari, to know the basis of negotiations to sign Roque.
It’ll be interesting to see how this case develops in the coming months.
