Reports continue to come in from Spain about Atletico Madrid’s desire to sign Cristian ‘Cuti’ Romero in the summer window.

The potential transfer has been repeatedly pushed forward recently and it’s been stated, again repeatedly, that the Tottenham Hotspur defender fancies the move to Madrid.

Whereas for a few years it was thought he was angling for an eventual Real Madrid transfer, that possibility doesn’t appear to be on the table, so the chance to link up with multiple national teammates at Atletico Madrid is apparently one he doesn’t want to miss.

Mundo Deportivo have taken a look at the situation and they reiterate the Tottenham has given his approval to signing for Diego Simeone’s side.

However, there’s one rather major problem which could present a difficult to jump hurdle.

Mundo Deportivo state Tottenham are asking for as much as €80m to part ways with the World Cup winner. Over at Atletico Madrid, they were thinking of an offer around the €40-50m mark.

That is obviously quite some gap.
