Hakan Calhanoglu has been linked with a switch to the Premier League even prior to him moving to Italian football in 2017.
Then he signed for AC Milan from Bayer Leverkusen, and in 2021 he made the controversial decision to leave the Rossoneri for Inter Milan. The situation was even more controversial because Calhanoglu moved as a free-agent, but AC Milan got their own back by winning the Serie A title.
Calhanoglu is again being linked with a move, and Newcastle United have been dragged into the picture. Eddie Howe’s side having improved finances, and improved performances, means they are thrown into the hat repeatedly for players, and that’s the case here.
CMW in Italy report both Newcastle United and Manchester United are keen ahead of the January window. Offers are ready, with the amount put at ‘€35m, maybe €40m’, but Inter would want to avoid a winter move, with such a potential transfer described as a ‘bad joke’ on their manager Simone Inzaghi.
Next summer would be different, given Inter as a club are up for sale and all their players on the market if the price is right. One for Newcastle United fans to keep an eye on.
