Tottenham will be handed the chance to sign Tim Kleindienst from Borussia Monchengladbach this summer if the German side don’t qualify for Europe.

That’s according to BILD, who say Monchengladbach would be unable to turn down a €28m bid from Tottenham if it arrived in that scenario.

The newspaper explains that Gladbach have ‘fallen into disarray’ and need to ‘get their act together’ this weekend to rescue their season and finish in the top ten.

They are facing a summer in which two of their star players look destined to leave, with Kleindienst and Ko Itakura both enjoying admirers in Europe.

The striker wants to take the next step in his career is a ‘mega offer’ comes his way as he absolutely wants to go to the World Cup next summer. Playing for a bigger side and in Europe would help his prospects with Germany.

Gladbach probably won’t be able to offer this thanks to a series of disappointing results pushing them to ninth and without Europe, director of football Roland Virkus ‘can’t turn down’ a €28m offer from Tottenham. They’re one of several interested parties.

Now we would point out that €28m is a lot for Tottenham, who are reportedly facing financial problems this summer, to pay for a 29-year-old would presumably be behind Dominic Solanke.

BILD insist that they’re one of the clubs who could make such a bid, though, and Gladbach would be unable to turn it down if they did.
