Earlier on Thursday, it was revealed that despite a first offer being rejected by Fiorentina from Manchester United for Sofyan Amrabat, work was still taking place regarding a move.

The Red Devils were allegedly pushing to get the transfer over the line, and Corriere dello Sport corroborate that in their print edition on Thursday.

They first recall how Manchester United’s bid was turned down, and how Amrabat himself decided to say no to a chance of moving to Nottingham Forest, before adding some details as to what Fiorentina and the Old Trafford side are working on.

The Italian newspaper reveal that a loan deal for the Morocco international ‘only exists’ if it comes with an obligation to buy ‘set at over €20m’.

That’s less than the previous €30m demands being made by the Serie A side, and, while a risky tactic, it shows how a disgruntled player can force his club to become flexible late on in a transfer window.

Corriere explain that this specific transfer package is ‘being discussed’ with Manchester United, meaning we will have to see if this is something the Old Trafford side are interested in, although it would certainly allow them to defer the payment until next summer.

Meanwhile, over at La Repubblica, relayed by Labaro Viola, the belief is the exit of Amrabat has ‘entered the decisive kilometre’, as the player ‘continues to await the move’ from Manchester United, which has always been his ‘priority’.

What is interesting here, however, is that they reveal that the Red Devils have ‘never made concrete approaches’ to either the player or the club to date.

That contradicts a lot of other claims out there, and it seems rather unlikely that Manchester United won’t have something already in place this late on in the window with Amrabat himself.
