As there are just a few months until the end of Thiago Silva’s contract with Chelsea, Fluminense fans are dreaming of his comeback like never before.

The fact that the player is in constant touch with people from the club only makes the situation more obvious, although none of the parties can confirm a deal yet.

Fluminense director Fred this week spoke to ESPN Brasil about Thiago Silva, making it clear that the club are waiting for his arrival.

“Thiago Silva has been a dream of ours for a long time, the president talks to him almost every week. Thiago has a contract in England, we’re rooting for him, I personally am a friend of his, I’m a big fan of his character, he deserves all the best. He knows that here the doors are wide open for him to return.”

Still, Fred sounded very respectful to Silva and Chelsea, claiming they’re still to take a final decision.

“There’s nothing (in the pipeline). We have to be careful not to put pressure on Thiago. The fans love Thiago, we love Thiago, and Thiago loves Fluminense. One day it’s inevitable, it will happen, it’s the player’s wish, the club’s wish and we hope it happens as soon as possible.”

Thiago Silva turns 40 in September, and that’s the main reason why a contract renewal with Chelsea isn’t guaranteed.

Despite being a regular starter for most of the season, he ended up losing his place following a recent injury.

In case a return to Fluminense is such a big objective for him, it’s fair to say that time is against him, so the summer may be the perfect opportunity for that, and it won’t be long before we know what his decision will be.
