Mexican side America remain hopeful of bringing Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez back to the club.
The Liga MX side had never hidden the wish of having the striker again, and their intention was now repeated by club president Santiago Banos.
The America chief revealed he had the opportunity to speak to the Wolves player, and felt there’s a wish for his return to Mexico.
“I’ll always say it. The doors are open for him. He is a guy who feels this shirt, he wears it in his heart,” Banos told Futvox’s podcast Sombra del Futbol (via Record).
“I had the opportunity to greet him before the World Cup, when he was doing his rehabilitation at the club. I think he has the worm of one day being able to return. Hopefully it happens soon. This will always be his home. He’s welcome.”
Record points out that Raul Jimenez could never show the same level he had before his head injury, and with him not being impressive at Wolves, that’s something that encourages Mexican clubs of dreaming with his signing.
Featuring for the Molineux side this season, the striker only made ten appearances, and even scored three goals, all of them in the EFL Cup.
His contract with Wolves runs until 2024, and judging by the little use that the club has been making of him lately, it would be no surprise to see him leaving soon.
Now for Mexican clubs to stand a chance, that should depend on how many European sides will want him.
