Southampton have been invited to make an offer for Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko, with the player determined to ‘escape’ the German side this summer.
That’s according to Sky Sport Germany, who say Southampton are one of several sides in the picture for the striker as he’s determined to leave Dortmund.
They explain that the relationship between Dortmund and Moukoko, who had one been set up as their rising star of the future, is now broken and irreparable.
His agent has already been speaking publically and criticising the club, which has led to a response from Dortmund sports director Sebastian Kehl and the situation getting pretty ugly.
Sky say the ‘tablecloth is finally cut’ between the two parties and Moukoko ‘plans to escape’ this summer if he can.
In fact, he wants to leave Germany completely and escape the pressure that’s been put on him there so values a move abroad and particularly to a club who can help him take the next step in his development.
There are numerous parties willing to offer that to him and Southampton are one of them, alongside Girona, Real Betis, Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Stade Rennais.
Dortmund are asking for around €15-20m for their 19-year-old if he is to leave permanently which he wants to do.
Whether any of the interested parties will be willing to pay such a figure remains to be seen but the opportunity is absolutely there if Southampton or anyone else want to take it.
