As you might recall, there was a point in the summer when Tottenham were interested in signing Ruslan Malinovskyi from Atalanta.
The player has fallen out of favour under Gian Piero Gasperini, and his latest performance wasn’t one to remember, which is why there’s a feeling a move in January is possible.
The playmaker appears to have a fan in London in the form of Antonio Conte, but it remains to be seen if Tottenham, who were the player’s favoured destination in the summer, will return for him.
Reports have suggested Spurs are still keen, but while convincing the Ukraine international might be easy, Atalanta are a tougher nut to crack.
TuttoMercatoWeb have an article on his situation, and point out that he is ‘playing more often as a substitute than he might have expected’.
This is why he can ‘probably leave on loan with the right to buy’, and ‘everything will depend on finding an interested club’.
Such a package would allow a team like Tottenham to try him out first for the second half of the season before committing to a full transfer, taking the player’s off Gasperini’s hands in the process.
As explained above, it’s also pointed out that ‘you have to satisfy an Atalanta who usually prefer not to lower their requests’.
That’s something for Fabio Paratici to deal with, but if Conte wants Malinovskyi at Tottenham, something is there to be negotiated.
