Víctor Orta, having moved on from Leeds United, wasted no time in finding himself a new job at Sevilla in Spain.
The director returned to the club where a lot started for him, taking over from the revered Monchi, in hope of improving the club’s fortunes.
That, however, hasn’t been the case, as his appointment of Diego Alonso as manager hasn’t worked out to date, and the pressure is building on the former Leeds transfer man, as Mucho Deporte explain in an article, with quotes from Orta himself.
Sevilla’s next hurdle is a Champions League game against RC Lens, and a loss would see them miss out on the third group place that would allow them to drop down into the Europa League.
He said: “The results are a reality and we should not hide them, but analyse them. However, we professionals have to do an analysis of what is behind them. I don’t want to ask for more patience, we have to win games starting today, but I see an evolution, that the players believe, that was have had good minutes of football lately, in line with the coach’s idea, but the results are not coming.”
Sevilla currently sit 16th in the LaLiga table after 15 games, three points above the relegation but with a game in hand, which if they win, could see them rise to 12th.
As for Leeds, they have been doing just fine without him, as Daniel Farke has them in third in the Championship, trailing Ipswich Town by seven points with 26 games left to play.
