Alexander Isak has told Fotbollskanalen that he’s not considering leaving Newcastle United in the summer window amid claims of interest from Arsenal and Barcelona.
The 24-year-old finished his second season at Newcastle with 25 goals and two assists, and has been linked to Arsenal and the La Liga side.
When Fotbollskanalen mentioned Arsenal and Barca links, the striker said he’s happy with his life at Newcastle.
“I’m really, really happy at Newcastle. I had my best season of my career. You can’t underestimate that. I love everything about the club, the fans, the city,” he said.
“I don’t really have any thoughts of moving or anything like that. I’m having a great time and I’m very happy with my life.”
There have been claims in the English press that Newcastle may have to sell some of their stars to improve their finances, and that the Magpies have identified the Sweden international as one of the candidates to raise funds.
“It’s not something I speculate about. Within the team or the club, there has been no talk or drama around it. I have not received any information from the club that they would have to sell me,” Isak explained.
The frontman scored 21 goals in the league in the recently concluded season. He became the Swede to score the most Premier League goals in a campaign, surpassing the 17 goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic during the 2016/17 season.
Isak says he’s focusing only on his own performances for the Tyneside club.
“It’s been good, especially the second part of the season. I had some hiccups and injuries in the first part. It was a bit difficult to find the flow, but in the last few months, I’ve been playing regularly and getting continuity. It has shown in the performances too,” he added.
“It’s great to have a record in Swedish football. And I’m not thinking about Zlatan, but I am most satisfied with my season. I scored a lot of goals in a league like the Premier League. I think mostly about my own performance, and I’m very happy with that.”
