The past few days haven’t been kind to Aston Villa loanee Leander Dendoncker, with the Italian media adamant the midfielder will be returning to Villa Park in the summer.
The Belgium international sought an exit from the Midlands club in January in order to get more game time, and Napoli came forward with some promises they could give it to him.
However, what has happened since is the exact opposite, with the player barely featuring for the Serie A side, but the Aston Villa player’s agent still believes they made the right choice, as he explained to Radio CRC, relayed by Area Napoli.
Seraino Dalgliesh first made it clear Dendoncker wasn’t feeling down about the move, and his client ‘always has a positive spirit’, even if he admits he would like to help Napoli a bit more.
He then said: “We defend the Napoli choice. We don’t regret it. Of course he would like to play more and if you ask me if he deserves to, yes, because he comes from an important club, because he is a Belgian international and therefore is an important player who deserves to play more.
“However, this does not mean that Leander is discouraged or that he would not make this choice again. The boy remains calm, not entirely satisfied, but very calm.”
As for his future, Dalgliesh was reluctant to comment on anything in particular, emphasising the Aston Villa man is focused on ending the season on a positive note.
Since joining Napoli from Villa Park, the 28-year-old has made a mere three appearances for his new club, totalling a measly 21 minutes of football.
