If Cadena SER in Spain are to be believed, Lucas Pérez to Arsenal is all but done.

According to one of their reports, Diego López Gómez, on Twitter, both clubs are currently exchanging the relevant paperwork to get the deal done after the London club agreed to pay Deportivo the €20m in his release clause up front.

Strong favourites throughout Thursday, reports emerged that Arsenal wanted to pay the asking price in two instalments, something Deportivo certainly didn’t want.

If they were going to lose their top striker, they would want all of the money now.

Furthermore, an article on Cadena SER’s website explains the player will sign a four-year deal at the Emirates.

That seems to be now the deal, and Lucas Pérez looks set to become the striker signing Arsenal have needed, but perhaps not the one the fans wanted.

Big names came and went in the transfer window, and none of them went to the Emirates.

The 27-year-old scored 19 goals and picked up 11 assists in 39 games in all competitions for Deportivo La Coruña last season.
