When Ralph Hasenhüttl took over from Mark Hughes, the future of many Southampton players was thrown into question.
After all, with a new manager comes new ideas, and some squad members might not fit the new guy’s way of thinking, ending up being pushed to one side.
This, in essence, is what appears to have happened with Manolo Gabbiadini, as his agent, on December 5th, made it clear he needed to travel to England to discuss what Hasenhüttl had planned for his client.
So far, it hasn’t gone too well, as the Italian saw his game time quickly reduced, going from 71 minutes against Spurs, to 15 vs Cardiff, only to be left out entirely in the 3-2 win over Arsenal.
This will undoubtedly refuel the many transfer stories surrounding the Italian, and Gazzetta dello Sport send a warning to Southampton, as they reiterate how much Fiorentina, and more specifically their director of football, Pantaleo Corvino, want him, explaining he’s ‘always liked’ the former Napoli man.
The same obstacles are still there, as wages and transfer fees would get in the way, but with the January transfer window just around the corner and Manolo Gabbiadini not exactly a regular at St Mary’s, there’s always a way to get something arranged.
Like a loan.
