With Corinthians fans staying hopeful that they can sign Philippe Coutinho from Aston Villa, they get to see someone ruling out their chances of getting that deal done.
That’s UOL columnist Milton Neves, who writes to his millions of readers that there’s simply no chance the Timão will land the 30-year-old.
It’s said by the journalist that Corinthians are being ‘megalomaniac’ by thinking they can sign the Aston Villa player, as that’s a rumour which ‘eludes’ their fans.
Coutinho ‘has a place’ in many other clubs, whether it be in Europe, MLS or the ‘Arab World’, as well as the richer sides in Brazil, and that’s why it ‘doesn’t make any sense’ that he’d choose the ‘broken’ Corinthians, who’ve been making disappointing market moves lately.
Milton Neves even makes a comparison with politics, mentioning the two arch rivals who fought for Brazil’s presidency in the last elections, saying: “it’s easier to see in a few days Bolsonaro joining Lula’s ministerial team than Coutinho wearing the Corinthians shirt.”
The journalist finishes the story claiming there isn’t the ‘minimum chance’ the Aston Villa player will make that move to Brazil in the coming months.
Recent reports from the Brazilian media said Corinthians are trying to sign Coutinho in a free move, with him rescinding his contract with the Premier League side or being loaned out.
