Basaksehir’s vice president Mustafa Saral has confirmed to BeinSportsTR they’re hoping to keep Tottenham Hotspur linked winger Cengiz Under beyond the next window.
The 19-year old Turkish international is currently receiving attention from the likes of Lille and Freiburg, but the Turkish media believe Tottenham are in pole position.
There have been claims in the Turkish media that Spurs had an agreement to sign Under for €9m, but this was quickly denied by the club’s manager Abdullah Avcı.
Today Saral has confirmed their wish to work with the attacker for another season: “Yes there are lots of club showing interest in Cengiz but we want to keep our best players at the club. We’ll compete in the Champions League for the first time in our history and we want Cengiz to fight for us in this year’s Champions League.”
This week Basaksehir manager Abdullah Avci said they were expecting a bid from Tottenham, even though he wants the youngster to remain in Turkey. Basaksehir are looking for a transfer fee in the region of €15m from any club wanting to sign the youngster.
Tottenham were also given a boost yesterday after the Turkish side signed Dutch winger Eljaro Elia. The Dutchman could possibly replace Under at Basaksehir.
