FC Copenhagen director Sune Smith-Nielsen has invited youngster Chidozie Obi-Martin to make a return to the club “when Arsenal don’t give him a chance.”

The Copenhagen director has been speaking to Tipsbladet about the youngster and welcomed him back with open arms should he want it.

Chidozie Obie-Martin is becoming a bigger and bigger name for Arsenal at this moment in time after bagging 24 goals for Arsenal’s U18 team in the last seven games.

Indeed, he has 28 goals and two assists in 16 games in the league this season, remarkable numbers that naturally haven’t gone unnoticed.

He appears set for a bright future at Arsenal, who he joined as a 13-year-old from FC Copenhagen’s youth team in July 2022.

The question is at what point he will end up making his debut for the first team.

Arsenal are a club who are willing to blood youngsters and have done so for a number of years, with Bukayo Saka the obvious example of that in the current first-team squad.

If they’re not willing to offer it to Obi-Martin, which seems unlikely at this point, then Copenhagen would be more than willing to welcome him back.

“Yes, he played with us until he was 13, when the family then moved to London. I think it was the mother who got a job in London and then the father and the brothers moved with them,” he said.

“He was a huge talent. He has been a huge talent since he was six years old. He played for periods two years up, and he has always had huge potential offensively. He has a wild technique and fantastic physical abilities.

“We are very pleased that he is doing so well at Arsenal. Then he can always get into FCK’s first team when Arsenal don’t give him the chance.”
