Over the past few weeks, claims coming out of Spainish media have stated AFC Bournemouth’s Enes Ünal could return to Spain in the winter market.
The Cherries took the striker on loan from Getafe and made his stay permanent in the summer. Earlier this month, journalist Máximo de la Cruz Ramírez said the La Liga side will sign the Bournemouth player on a loan deal in January.
Last Wednesday, Getafe president Ángel Torres stated it would be difficult to sign the 27-year-old.
Estadio Deportivo say Getafe sporting director Rubén Reyes has dismissed the possibility of Ünal returning to the club next month.
Reyes is a fan of the Turkey international and wanted to retain him instead of letting him join the Premier League side.
The director has revealed he’s in regular contact with the player and would love to have back. At the same time, he’ll well aware it’s difficult for the Spanish club to take him away from Bournemouth.
“He’s a very difficult player. We would love it. We would have loved him to have never left, but there are circumstances and obligations. He just scored a great goal [against West Ham],” he said.
“We follow him a lot, he’s a friend of mine, I speak to him every week. He loves the club a lot. He would love to be here one day, but it’s difficult for him to be here now.”
“Ünal is focused there, Bournemouth have just paid a big transfer fee for an important player who has been unlucky with an injury and is doing a great job. Talking about Enes Ünal today is utopia.”
Estadio state Andoni Iraola’s side invested €16.5m to buy Ünal and taking this into account, it’s complicated for them to let him leave in January.
