Among the many departures from Leeds United this summer, Robin Koch’s is one that will definitely lead to a permanent transfer.
That’s because the German defender’s contract at Elland Road expires at the end of the year, and it is highly likely that he will sign a contract with Eintracht Frankfurt in January.
The situation has been explained before, with the Leeds man technically in limbo until then, but he will be leaving the Whites one way or another, and has already started impressing away from Yorkshire, earning good reviews from his new club, as explained by Sport Bild.
In this very article, it’s explained that ‘the clear plan’ is for Koch to stay in Frankfurt ‘long-term beyond the summer of 2024’.
That was always the idea, and now his performances have just made it even clearer that he should stick around away from Leeds.
The club’s sports director, Markus Krösche, already ‘raves’ about his new centre-back, whom Lothar Matthäus reckons could take part in the Euros.
Krösche said: “He’s right. Robin brings a lot of stability and wins a lot of duels. He is clam when building up the game under pressure. Certainly a clear candidate for the national team.”
Germany have found themselves in a stick patch of late at national team level, recently parting ways with Hansi Flick and already searching for his replacement.
Whoever comes in will have to rebuild the team, and that’s where the Leeds loanee could come in, having helped Eintracht to a good run of results during which they have only conceded three goals in four games.
