Djurgårdens IF sporting director Bosse Andersson has told the Swedish press that they’ve yet to agree when Jacob Widell Zetterström will be officially announced as a Derby County player.
The goalkeeper has been linked with a move to the Championship club following reports of an agreement between the two clubs.
However, Andersson is keen to keep hold of the 26-year-old for this month’s Europa Conference League qualifiers, but has revealed to Fotbollskanalen he will make the move to England before the end of the month.
The Djurgårdens IF director went on to say the player’s medical has been carried out after his meetings with the Rams.
“We want him to leave after our European game, no later than August 29th. Jacob has been on site and done a medical examination and met with the club. What we haven’t really agreed on is when the transition will take place. We plan for Jacob to play today (against IFK Göteborg) and he will play the European games against Tampere,” said Andersson.
This week it was finally confirmed Jacob Rinne has signed for the Swedish club after recent reports he would be the number one choice goalkeeper to replace Widell Zetterström.
Widell Zetterström will reportedly sign for Derby County for a fee in the region of £2m, with £660k in potential add-ons.
Zetterström has made 17 league appearances for his club this season and is contracted until June 2025. The Stockholm born keeper made his debut for Sweden last year.
