Last summer, Arsenal allowed Albert Sambi Lokonga to join Sevilla on loan with an option to buy.

The midfielder has played less than 1,300 minutes from 19 games in all competitions for the La Liga side. He’s missed close to two months of this season due to a hamstring injury.

Last month, the Arsenal owned player expressed his desire to extend his stay at Sevilla. On March 12, he reiterated his wish to continue with the Spanish club beyond this season.

Vamos Mi Sevilla FC cover the latest on the Andalusian club’s plans for the 25-year-old.

Sevilla have a €12m buying option which, as per the report, they aren’t going to exercise. Instead, they want to buy the Belgium international for a lower price, without mentioning any figures.

According to the report, Sevilla sporting director Víctor Orta has ‘already started working’ with the Gunners to reduce the price.

The player has 15 months left on his contract at the Emirates and wants to join Sevilla permanently in the summer. Sevilla, led by Orta, want to take advantage of the situation at Arsenal to sign him for a lower price.

The north London club are clear that they want to get rid of him permanently after this season. Therefore, ‘everything indicates an agreement could be reached’ for a fee less than €12m.
