Liverpool are interested in Basel forward Andy Diouf, with them moving ‘in a decisive way’ for the 20-year-old.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the midfielder has earned the attention of those in charge at Anfield.
The newspaper explains that Diouf is currently being tracked by Bologna, who are likely to be watching him when Fiorentina take on Basel in the Europa Conference League this evening.
They’ve been following him for a while, right up until the first leg last week, when he scored Basel’s equaliser to set them up for the 2-1 win.
They even sent their ‘market man’, Giovanni Sartori, to watch the midfielder in action but the Italian side are not the only ones interested in him.
Diouf’s development ‘has also been noticed’ elsewhere, with those in charge at Basel saying that the player is ‘directed towards the Premier League’ with Liverpool ‘on his trail in a decisive way’.
They do not make clear how this is the case, so there’s no mention of whether they’ve made an official offer for the player or they’re just making enquiries and scouting him.
Either way, Liverpool are believed to be in the race and that, according to Corriere, makes the road to getting Diouf ‘decisively uphill’ for Bologna.
