Earlier in the transfer window, we covered claims from Italy that West Ham United had made a move for Albert Gudmundsson.
The Iceland international has been in the form of his life for Genoa this season, who wanted to hold onto their key players in January, only to relinquish Radu Dragusin when Tottenham came knocking.
However, they plan on standing firm for Gudmundsson, as Il Messaggero, relayed by Calciomercato, report that Lazio are the latest to have join West Ham and others with an interest in the winger.
They explain that while the player is ‘mainly followed’ by the Hammers and Aston Villa in England, there are also Inter Milan, AC Milan, AS Roma and Napoli in Italy.
Lazio can be added to that group, but it’s said it will be ‘difficult, if not impossible’ for any club, even West Ham, to get him this January.
The price set by Genoa ‘would be around €25m’, which we all know the Hammers could afford if they really want someone.
While that obstacle could be easily overcome, it’s clear the Serie A side would drag their feet as much as possible, meaning this really does look like a transfer for the summer.
