West Ham United’s Nikola Vlašić has been on loan at Torino since last summer and the Serie A side have an option to make his stay permanent.

The Croatia international’s recent displays had raised concerns over the Turin club exercising the buying option after this season.

Toro.it now suggests Torino manager Ivan Jurić’s decision to use the West Ham owned player in the middle of the pitch instead of an attacking midfielder could be one of the reasons for his struggles.

Jurić deployed the 25-year-old in his preferred position in the attacking midfield against Lazio, who are currently second in the table and boast having the best defensive record in the league.

Torino sealed a 1-0 win over Maurizio Sarri’s side and Vlašić was ‘excellent’ for his side, assisting Ivan Ilić’s winner at the weekend.

After his latest performance against Lazio, it’s ‘difficult not to’ buy Vlašić from West Ham. Torino have now been urged to make his loan deal permanent.

The manager’s decision to use Vlašić as the attacking midfielder has helped him become more dangerous in the final third.

Torino’s buying option for Vlašić is worth around €18m, with €15m plus €3m bonuses, and it needs to be seen whether they will retain the Croatian after this season, as many have claimed that figure would be too expensive for them.
