Last summer, Italian goalkeeper Elia Caprile agreed the return to his home country.
The 21-year-old had been at Leeds United, as he joined the Whites’ academy in January 2020, when moving from Chievo.
Despite the appearances for the Elland Road side’s youth ranks, he never really had a chance to make an official debut for the club. So in the summer of 2021, he was loaned to Pro Patria, where he excelled, and this summer joined Serie B side Bari on a permanent move.
Caprile was now interviewed by Gianluca Di Marzio’s website about his fresh start in Italy, and answered to a few questions about his time at Leeds United.
“My name is linked to many teams but there’s nothing concrete, I’m concentrated on Bari. At least until June, the Bari fans will have to put up with me.”
Caprile signed a three-year deal with Bari, and it turns out he now found a club where he has the chance of being their number one option.
The goalkeeper already has 19 appearances for the club this season, having conceded 18 goals and keeping six clean sheets.
They’re now set to fight for promotion to the Serie A, although the player admits he doesn’t know if he’s ready to play in the top flight so soon.
Leeds will be monitoring everything surrounding Caprile very carefully, as they agreed with Bari that they will get around 50% of any future transfer fee.
