On June 1st, Milan News reported Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek has given his approval to join AC Milan in the summer. It was also stated that the Rossoneri will try to find an agreement with the Blues to carry out the transfer.
Italian journalist Ciro Venerato was the guest on 1 Station Radio’s program, 1 Football Club.
Relayed by Per Sempre Napoli, he provided an update on the Serie A side’s efforts to bring the Chelsea midfielder to the San Siro.
The journalist backed up Milan News’ claim from Thursday that the England international has reached an agreement with the Rossoneri over personal terms.
“The Rossoneri, after the Kamada coup, are also defining Loftus-Cheek. There is a total agreement with the player, with a four-year contract,” he said.
Stefano Pioli’s side have to sort out an agreement with Chelsea, who initially demanded around €25m to sanction the 27-year-old’s sale. Venerato says Mauricio Pochettino’s side have now lowered their demands to make it easier for Milan to sign Loftus-Cheek.
“Details are being finalised with Chelsea. We started with a request for €25m, it went down to €20m and today the agreement provides for €15m, including bonuses,” Venerato explained.
Loftus-Cheek has a deal until 2024, with an option to extend for another year. He hasn’t had regular game time at Chelsea in the recently concluded season, making only 19 league starts. A move to Milan could help him improve the situation next season.
