Brian Riemer has been warned he will be given little time to impress at Anderlecht following his move from Brentford.
The coach departed the Bees for the Belgian giants this week, taking up the vacant manager’s position at the club on Friday morning.
It brought an end to a four-year stay with Brentford, where he had been working as Thomas Frank’s assistant manager since 2018.
He was a key part of the club’s success since, helping to establish them in the Championship before their promotion to the Premier League and subsequent success there.
His work with the club had not gone unnoticed, particularly by Anderlecht’s CEO of Sports Jesper Fredberg, who moved quickly to secure his compatriot’s signature.
The move is seen as something of a gamble for the Purple and White, given that the former Brentford man does not have any experience as a manager thus far.
Riemer will certainly need to hit the ground running because of that, and Ariel Jacobs, who worked closely with him at Copenhagen, has warned him as much.
“He knows football well enough that he will be analysed and evaluated very quickly, especially in the first weeks.
“That is not only the case at Anderlecht, but also the same everywhere. I do think that he has sufficient knowledge of the environment to ensure that there will be an impact in the short term.”
