Former Swansea City manager Francesco Guidolin has been linked with a return to football with Real Betis by the Italian media. Last month Guidolin was sacked by Swansea City following a poor start to the season, which had been partly due to tough fixtures.
TMW have reported in the last hour Real Betis are giving consideration to bringing in Guidolin to replace Gus Poyet. Under the former Sunderland manager Real Betis have struggled this season, and are currently 14th in La Liga. The Seville club have won just 3 of their opening 11 league games, and the pressure is now mounting on Poyet.
Guidolin was last month replaced by Bob Bradley with many fans saying the American was only brought in because of sharing nationality with the club’s new owners. Bradley has been unable to turn things around since arriving in South Wales, and the Swansea City fans have begun to turn on the owners.
During the match against Manchester United at the weekend, Swansea fans could be heard to chant ‘We want our club back’, and rather than Bradley being a boost to the club’s owners, it appears to have worked the opposite way… so far at least.
Meanwhile it seems Guidolin’s reputation hasn’t been affected by his time at Swansea City, and along with Real Betis he’s also been linked with the Inter Milan job in the past week.
