Liverpool have OH Leuven’s Roggerio Nyakossi in their target list for the summer window.
The centre-back joined the Jupiler Pro League side from Marseille in January 2025 and played 329 minutes from five matches in the second half of last season.
This season, he was on the bench a lot until October. However, the 22-year-old’s situation improved since November and he’s been a regular since then, catching Liverpool’s attention.
Nyakossi has so far played 1,530 minutes from 19 matches and even scored three goals.
He’s started in 17 of 18 league matches, and below are his stats per game from this season.
- Interceptions: 1.1
- Tackles: 0.5
- Ground duels won: 0.8
- Aerial duels won: 1.5
- Clearances: 4.3
- Dribbled past: 0.2
- Ball recovery: 3

Liverpool face Marseille concern
Het Nieuwsblad have a report covering Liverpool and Marseille interest in the Swiss defender.
Last summer, Ezechiel Banzuzi left OH Leuven for RB Leipzig, and Roggerio Nyakossi’s development has seen him dubbed the ‘new Banzuzi’. Several European clubs are closely following him and have included him in their wish list.
Earlier this year, Sport Witness relayed news of West Ham United and Southampton interest. Het Nieuwsblad now mention Liverpool and the Ligue 1 side as his suitors.
The Reds are keen on bringing him to Anfield in the summer. To do this, Slot’s side would be ‘willing to pay’, likely the fee requested by the Belgian club.
Liverpool have to first find out the French club’s plan for Nyakossi. The latter have secured a buyback option, but the newspaper isn’t aware of the price.
If Marseille don’t exercise this clause, OH Leuven are hoping to collect a ‘substantial sum’, without a mention of their request.
The Merseyside club seem to be willing to match their demand and can only move forward if Marseille decide against signing him.
Nyakossi, for his part, would ‘very much like’ to join Liverpool. However, he refused to discuss this at Friday’s press conference.
“I am concentrating on the rest of the season and the super-important match on Sunday,” he said.
Defender’s contract, value and agent info
Roggerio Nyakossi’s contract expires in 2027. Transfermarkt valued him €100k, just over a month before joining OH Leuven. It rose to €500k in June 2025, €800k in December and €2.5m this month.
The Belgian club sold Banzuzi to RB Leipzig for €16m and that’s currently their record sale. They may demand a fee slightly below this for Nyakossi in the summer.
The Swiss defender is represented by Goal Kick SA, headed by agent Michel Urscheler.
