Brazilian defender Luizão will soon be signing a pre-contract agreement with West Ham United, according to claims from the Brazilian media.
The information comes from journalist André Hernan, who says the 20-year-old should formalise his agreement with the Hammers in the ‘coming days’.
The report details that São Paulo and West Ham had been in negotiations to include in a fee in the deal. That way, he could join the London side as soon as the window opens, instead of waiting for his contract with the Tricolor to expire at the end of January.
However, according to Hernan, the clubs did not find an agreement. In the few meetings held between the sides, there was no common-ground, and that will lead to his free transfer.
It’s said West Ham were even ‘open’ to the possibility of paying around €1m in case Luizão made 30 appearances for them. São Paulo, meanwhile, wanted a fee plus a percentage from a future move.
With the clubs reaching an impasse, Luizão decided to go for the pre-contract, and the Brazilian club will only get some training compensation for having him throughout his academy years.
