Burnley are set to complete the signing of Portimonense defender Moufi at the end of the season after he signed a ‘pre-contract agreement’.
That’s according to O Jogo, who say the Moroccan defender will be on the way to Turf Moor at the end of this season.
The newspaper explains that Moufi’s current deal is set to expire in the summer and, with no agreement to extend it in place he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with other clubs.
According to their information he has already done that with Burnley, who have moved quickly to secure his signature.
They’re currently top of the Championship and their ‘excellent prospects’ of returning to the Premier League have tempted Moufi into the move.
He has ‘the ambition’ to play in England’s top flight, although he will first need to complete the final six months of his contract with Portimonense first.
Either way, he appears to be Burnley’s first signing of the summer as they plan ahead for a potential return to the Premier League under Vincent Kompany.
