Earlier today, we covered an article claiming Tottenham had made a second offer for Takehiro Tomiyasu, currently at Bologna.
It was Corriere di Bologna with the information, and they made it rather clear that Spurs were just a couple of million euros off getting a deal sorted for the defender, who was quite thrilled at the idea of playing in the Premier League.
However, Il Resto del Carlino believe Arsenal have come in to scupper Tottenham’s plans, as they are also keen on the versatile Japan international.
Capable of playing both at right-back and centre-back, Tomiyasu would certainly be a nice option for Mikel Arteta to have at the Emirates, especially if they allow Hector Bellerin, who fell out of favour towards the back end of last season, to go on loan to Inter.
The Italian newspaper state Arsenal and Tottenham are the ‘most aggressive’ suitors after the player right now, and have ‘returned to attack’, making Bologna ‘wobble’.
It’s said both the Gunners and Spurs are ‘upping the ante’, suggesting bids have been made, and the Serie A side are ‘giving themselves a few days to reflect’.
Either way, these are ‘decisive hours’ for Tomiyasu’s future, and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal do manager to mess up their rivals’ plans.
