Jorginho’s future beyond this season remains uncertain because his current deal at Stamford Bridge will expire in just over six months.
The 30-year-old’s contract situation at Chelsea has had no impact on his playing time this season as he’s made 17 appearances in all competitions.
At the same time, the Chelsea midfielder has been linked to Barcelona and a few other clubs in the past few weeks. The La Liga side are looking to sign players who have deals expiring in 2023.
On Wednesday, Sport came out with a report stating the Brazil-born Italy international’s agent has been negotiating with Barcelona sporting director, Mateu Alemany. It was also stated the Catalan club are ‘waiting to finalise the agreement’.
Joao Santos, the player’s agent, has wasted no time in dismissing this claim.
“I’ve never met Barcelona director Mateu Alemany. We want to extend the contract with Chelsea, it is our priority. We are only dealing with the Blues and no other club,” Tutto Juve quoted the agent as saying.
It needs to be seen whether Jorginho can come to an agreement with Chelsea over a new contract in the coming weeks and months.
