Last week, Foot Mercato reported Sunderland are making advances to sign US Sassuolo’s Armand Laurienté this summer. They also said other sides are in the mix and the winger has been analysing offers to decide his next club.
The Premier League newcomers have moved forward in the race to sign the 26-year-old.
That’s according to Le Parisien, and their title says Laurienté’s move to Sunderland is close.
Within the report, it’s claimed the deal to take the Frenchman to the Stadium of Light ‘could be completed quickly’ as the Black Cats and the Serie A side are close to reaching an agreement.
Le Parisien report negotiations between Sunderland and the Italian club could even be concluded in the ‘next few hours’.
They haven’t mentioned whether Régis Le Bris’ side will sign the attacker on loan or a permanent transfer. In addition, the French newspaper also makes no mention whether the player has agreed personal terms with Sunderland.
Laurienté managed 19 goals and six assists last season, playing a key role in helping his side secure a promotion to the top flight. A move to Sunderland will see him reunite with Régis Le Bris.
