Last season, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Deniz Undav was on loan at VfB Stuttgart and he starred for them, managing 19 goals and 10 assists from 33 games. This has convinced them to buy him this summer.
The Bundesliga side haven’t managed to find an agreement with the Seagulls so far, and are not close to agreeing a deal, as per Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg.
He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that Brighton received a new offer of €27-30m from Stuttgart in the last few days.
The German international would have been Stuttgart’s club-record signing, but their latest bid wasn’t accepted by the Premier League side.
Plettenberg claims Brighton want more for the forward, without mentioning the fee needed to convince them to sanction the 28-year-old’s sale.
Stuttgart don’t seem to be willing to offer more as Undav’s move to the Bundesliga side is close to being called off. The journalist says the ‘deal is in jeopardy’ after the English club rejected the latest offer.
This has seen Stuttgart director of sport Fabian Wohlgemuth look at other options in the market.
