Lecce haven’t given up hope on trying to sign Celtic’s Gustaf Lagerbielke, and there is still a chance the deal will go through before the end of the day.
A previous report stated the directors at the Serie A side were trying everything in their power to get the deal over the line, but Brendan Rodgers’ side were still stalling following the return from injury of Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Lagerbielke himself wants the move, and Quotidiano di Puglia have an update on the situation early on Thursday morning regarding the Celtic defender.
They explain that the ‘green light’ from Celtic could arrive ‘close to the closing bell’ to allow the Swede to make the move to Lecce, with the deadline being 8pm in Italy, meaning 7pm in the United Kingdom.
While the player had managed to ‘pack his bags’ for the trip on Tuesday, everything came to a stop after the issue with his teammate.
This sent Lagerbielke ‘into a rage’, who let Celtic know ‘through his agents’ that he wanted to leave Scotland and head to Italy.
Both the player and the Italian club are ‘continuing the work of persuasion’ to convince the Scottish Premiership leaders to let him go, and there’s a belief it could be ‘unblocked at any moment’.
