Danny Röhl’s work at Sheffield Wednesday has not gone unnoticed by RB Leipzig as they seek a new manager in the summer.

That’s according to RB Live at least, who report that Röhl is on a list of six potential candidates to replace Marco Rose after he was sacked on Sunday.

The website explain that Leipzig are on the hunt for a new manager after Rose’s tenure was brought to an end on Sunday following the 1-0 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Zsolt Löw has been appointed interim coach, with a new coach set to take over in the summer and the hunt is now on to find that man.

“We are looking for a coach who fully identifies with the philosophy of our club, who plays attractive, attacking football, who always wants to be active with and against the ball,” said RB sporting director Marcel Schäfer on Monday.

“We have a clear plan of how we want to play football, an idea of what the profile looks like, and we will hold talks accordingly and present a convincing solution by the summer.”

And a perfect fit for that idea could be Sheffield Wednesday boss Röhl according to RB Live, who have him on a shortlist of six names today.

They say that Röhl’s previous work as a video assistant at Leipzig means he is known at the club, while the fact he was a former assistant to Hansi Flick at FC Bayern and the German national team doesn’t hurt either.

Indeed, they insist that the 35-year-old is regarded as ‘one of the brightest minds in German football’, is likeable, ‘has a good speech’ and, crucially, is proving he can develop a team further with his work at Sheffield Wednesday.

They add that he would also ‘have the fans’ hearts on his side very quickly’ were he to be appointed, another big feather in his cap and a plus point for Leipzig to consider.

Whether they do move remains to be seen but Röhl is certainly making waves, and his work hasn’t gone unnoticed in Germany, particularly at his former club.
