Following the big coverage that the Romanian media made of Radu Dragusin’s transfer from Genoa to Tottenham Hotspur, they continue to bring details about it.
A fresh story on the transfer is brought by Digispor, who brings some quotes from journalist Calin Mates.
The reporter shared details about the salary that Dragusin is set to receive while at Tottenham, comparing it to the club’s stars. He explained that the offer from Spurs was made by Daniel Levy, who was trying to make sure that the player would move to London instead of going to Bayern Munich.
“At the moment, the highest paid is Heung-min Son, who is on £195-200k a week. Dragusin has around £50-60k per week. What I can tell you is that it is more than we would have expected, it is a bit more than Tottenham would have expected to offer,” said Calin Mates.
“We have learned that Tottenham have slightly increased their bid in the context of Bayern Munich’s offer. They said: ‘OK, if he shows loyalty, if he shows that he keeps his word to come we will reward him’. This is where Daniel Levy intervened, he gave him a six-year contract. This contract means: ‘I give you more money, but you also give me an extra year’. That means somewhere around €3m for Dragusin’s contract.
Tottenham spent €25m to sign Dragusin from Roma, and made the move official on the 11th of January. The defender has already made his debut for the club, coming on as a late sub in the Premier League clash against Manchester United.
Spurs’ next challenge will be on Friday, when they play Manchester City in the FA Cup’s fourth round, and that’d be a big game for Dragusin to get his first start.
Romania’s sport media will be watching with excitement.
