Crystal Palace have sanctioned Jefferson Lerma to link up with Colombia and feature in this international break.

That’s according to journalist Pipe Sierra, who say Crystal Palace’s medical staff have given the player the green light to link up with his national team.

Lerma had been a doubt for Colombia during this international break as they take on Peru and Argentina in World Cup qualifying.

The midfielder has been struggling with a small injury at the beginning of this season, managing just 16 minutes in the opening game defeat to Brentford and 63 minutes in the loss to West Ham before missing the 1-1 draw with Chelsea entirely.

That had led to doubts about whether he would be a part of the Colombia set up, with Crystal Palace unlikely to want him featuring if they had concerns over his fitness.

It seems they have now been dismissed, with Sierra reporting that Lerma has been sanctioned to travel to Barranquilla from London.

According to him, Crystal Palace’s medical staff, in consensus with the Colombian National Team, have determined that Lerma is fit and fine to play.

This is because there has been a ‘rapid improvement’ in the tendon injury that he’s been suffering from and so he will train with the national side tomorrow after catching a flight to link up with his teammates.
