Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta is a potential target for Spanish side Cádiz CF as they look to add to their forward line before the end of the window.

That’s according to Diario de Cádiz, who say that the club have a long list of candidates that they are looking at and Mateta is being ‘closely followed’.

They like the striker because of his ‘aerial play’ and know that he wants a ‘greater role’ than he is currently being given at Crystal Palace.

He has found himself out of the side this season, managing just three stats in 19 games in the Premier League and 423 minutes of action in total.

He wants more according to Diario and Palace ‘can’t seem to give him that’ and are now looking at a potential move before the transfer window closes.

Cádiz could only afford a loan deal, or at least that would be the ‘only way out’ at this point in time, but they would have to show Crystal Palace that they are ‘willing to pay’ for such a deal.

That would involve some sort of loan fee and paying a ‘proportional part of the player’s salary’, which would be higher than the salaries currently in the squad.

The suggestion, therefore, is that a deal may be complicated for Cádiz to get over the line, at least financially, unless Crystal Palace are willing to play ball.
