Crystal Palace are ‘expressing interest’ in Bayer Leverkusen’s Odilon Kossounou but may need to work hard to get a deal done.
That’s according to Kicker, who report that while Kossounou is a ‘sales candidate’ for the German champions, a deal will not be simple for Crystal Palace.
The newspaper report that Kossounou is exploring his options on the market at this moment in time rather than talking about an extension to his current deal.
He would like to move to the Premier League and Oliver Glasner has expressed an interest in taking the 23-year-old to Crystal Palace, particularly if they lose Marc Guehi. In that eventuality, they ‘could become concrete’ for Kossounou.
There are two factors which speak against the defender ending up at Selhurst Park in the next two weeks, though.
On the one hand, Kossounou wants to end up at an ‘absolute top club’ in his next step and Crystal Palace, who finished tenth last season, don’t fall under into that category.
There is also a question of whether Crystal Palace could afford the player, as they’d likely need to pay ‘a record figure’ for the player. Kicker believe that reaching an agreement with Leverkusen could prove to be tricky because of that.
Their interest has been made clear, though, so Kossonou could be a name to keep an eye on, particularly if Guehi does depart.
